The last of the unbeatens in women's basketball has fallen. #3 Duke came into their much hyped match-up against #2 Connecticut with a record of 20-0. They would never threaten to go to 21-0 in this one. The Huskies dominated from the get go scoring the game's first 13 points and reaching 40 points before Duke even got into double digits. Connecticut led by 26 at the half and continued to pour it on in the second half winning by a final score of 87-51. Duke hadn't given up more than 70 points in a game all season prior to tonight. The Blue Devils shot just 28.4% in this one, were outrebounded 43 to 20, managed just 8 defensive rebounds, and despite forcing 20 turnovers, they still lost by 36. Maya Moore led the way for the Huskies with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Tiffany Hayes chipped in 20 points of her own as Connecticut improved to 21-1 and has reeled off 9 wins in a row following their loss to Stanford. The Baylor Bears are still ranked #1 at 19-1, their lone loss a 65-64 nail-biter to Connecticut back in November.
