It's true. In a move that nobody saw coming, Lebron is going to be playing for Cleveland this season. That's right, Willy Lebron, the 32 year old minor league pitcher has signed a deal with the Indians for the 2012 season. Oh you thought... sorry, I can see how that could be confusing. Anyhow, Lebron, like LeBron, has never pitched in the major leagues. He spent 2011 between AA and AAA with the Royals and posted a 3.02 ERA in 32 appearances. A power arm, he struck out 72 hitters in 65 2/3 innings and held minor league hitters to just a .229 average last season. In 2010, Lebron was a part of the Dominican Republic National Team and helped lead the Dominicans to their third title at the Central American and Caribbean Games. During the tournament, Lebron started and went 6 2/3 innings in an 8-2 win over the Netherlands Antilles in the Preliminary Round and pitched 2 innings in relief in their 6-5 semifinal win over Nicaragua. No word yet on how Lebron jerseys will sell in Ohio.
