Landon Donovan, fresh over on loan from the LA Galaxy, started for Everton today, but it was fellow American Tim Howard who accounted for 100% of Everton's offense against Bolton Wanderers. Howard hammered a clearance that bounced over the head of Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan for his second professional goal (Howard also scored for the New York Metrostars of MLS back in 1999), but Bolton would rally for a pair of second half goals dealing Everton a tough home loss. Howard becomes just the 4th goalkeeper to score in open play in English Premier League history, but he's the second American to accomplish the feat. Brad Friedel, now with Tottenham Hotspur, scored for Blackburn Rovers back in 2004. With the win Bolton moves out of the Premier League cellar and into 18th.
