AKevin Love picked up his 51st consecutive double double last night against the Dallas Mavericks notching 23 points and 17 rebounds as Minnesota nearly pulled off the upset before falling apart in the 4th quarter and losing 108-105. Love breaks Moses Malone's record of 50 consecutive double doubles set during the 1978-1979 season. Let's qualify this though, this record only pertains to those seasons after the NBA/ABA merger during the 1976-1977 season. So Love's streak isn't the longest EVER, just the longest in the last 35 seasons. Still, it's impressive. There's been a lot of great players over the last three and a half decades who didn't do what he's doing, and don't forget, his streak is still going. If only the Wolves could figure out a way to WIN SOME OF THE GAMES. Minnesota has won just 11 of the 51 games during the streak.

For the year, Love is averaging 20.9 points and 15.8 rebounds, nearly two full rebounds per game ahead of the league's second best rebounder, Dwight Howard. Malone, by comparison averaged 24.8 points and 17.6 rebounds the year he set his record. Love tries to make it 52 in a row against Indiana tomorrow night. Love had 22 points and 15 rebounds in his last game against the Pacers, a 116-105 loss in Indiana on February 11th.
