35 year old Bonzi Wells, who hasn't played an NBA game since 2008, is attempting a comeback. Wells is reuniting with former coach Rick Adelman in Minnesota following his invite to training camp. While there are no guarantees that he'll make the squad, it's an intriguing pickup as Wells could add both toughness and experience to what is otherwise a very young team (Luke Ridnour and Brad Miller are the only players on the roster older than 26). The 6'5" Wells averaged 12.1 points and 4.7 rebounds over his 10 year NBA career that included stops in Portland, Memphis, Sacramento, Houston and New Orleans. Since his departure from the NBA he has played professionally in China and Puerto Rico.

Landon Donovan is headed back to England on a two month loan to Everton where he'll join forces with fellow U.S. Men's National Teamer Tim Howard. This is Donovan's second loan to the Premier League side having also spent a stint with them in 2010. Donovan appeared in 10 Premier League games that season tallying a pair of goals and adding 3 assists and earned the club's Player of the Month honors for that January. Donovan will become available to Everton for their January 4th match with Bolton Wanderers and he'll return to the Galaxy following Everton's February 25th match against Liverpool. In total, he'll be available for 9 Premier League matches as well as the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. Everton's schedule for Donovan also includes matches with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Chelsea. Currently Everton sits at 5-8-1 with just 16 points is currently in 12th place. They have scored just 15 goals in 14 matches and are hopeful that the dynamic Donovan can add some life to their offense.

Basketball is finally back, folks. For the first time since the Mavericks clinched the NBA title back in June, NBA players have finally returned to the court. Sure it's only preseason and yeah, tonight there were only four games, but still, it's better than nothing. Unless of course you hate basketball in which case, it's probably about the same.
