Already the most prolific American-born scorer in the history of the English Premier League, Clint Dempsey added another chapter to his legend today netting the first ever hat trick by an American Player in English Premier League play. Dempsey struck 3 times after the intermission helping Fulham rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit to blow out Newcastle by a final score of 5-2. The 28 year old from Nacogdoches, Texas is enjoying a sensational 2012 thus far having now tallied a pair of 3 goal games in the last two weeks. Dempsey picked up his first career hat trick back on January 7th in the FA Cup against Charlton. Dempsey now has scored a career high 15 goals this season across all competitions including 9 during Premier League Play and now needs just 3 goals to tie his own record of 12 goals by an American in a Premier League season set last season.
