An impressive month for American soccer continued today. Already in 2012 we'd seen a pair of hat tricks by Clint Dempsey, two victories for the Men's National Team, and 14 and 13 goal outbursts by the Women's National Team en route to a berth in the 2012 Olympics. Today was another banner day as American defender Oguchi Onyewu headed in a pair of first half goals for Sporting Lisbon in their 2-0 win over Beira Mar in league play in Portugal. The 6'4" center back who signed with Sporting after 3 frustrating years with AC Milan has now scored 4 goals in league play this year, good for second most on the team.
