4 Game Changing Plays from This Weekend

THE RAY RICE FUMBLE

Leading 21-7 and after stopping the Steelers on their first drive of the second half, surehanded Ray Rice coughed up his first fumble in over 400 touches leading to a Steelers touchdown and making it suddenly a 1 score game. Ironically his last fumble came in the Ravens playoff loss to Indianapolis in the divisional round last year. The Ravens never regained any type of momentum and eventually lost 31-24.

THE TRAMON WILLIAMS INTERCEPTION

With 10 seconds left in the 2nd quarter trailing 21-14, the Falcons had driven 30 yards to the Green Bay 35. They actually had made it down to the 26, but Clay Matthews came up with a big sack of Matt Ryan to set them back. Facing a 2nd and 19, the Falcons chose not to give kicker Matt Bryant a shot from long range and instead tried to pick up a few extra yards. Ryan looked for his favorite target Roddy White, but Williams jumped the route and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown as time expired. Instead of going into the half down 21-14 or 21-17, it was not 28-14. The Packers pushed the lead all the way to 42-14 before the Falcons would score again.

CUTLER'S 4TH DOWN CONVERSION

Already up 7-0, Chicago found themselves facing a 4th and 1 from Seattle's 3 yard line with just under 2 and a half minutes to go in the first quarter. Seattle had a chance to make a stop, but Jay Cutler picked up 2 yards on the quarterback sneak setting up this Chester Taylor touchdown making it 14-0. Seattle didn't gain any momentum in this game until the 4th quarter when it was too late.

THE BOTCHED FAKE PUNT

4th and 4 from their own 38 yard line trailing 7-3 with 1:14 left in the second quarter, the Patriots opted to go for a fake punt. Patrick Chung fumbled the snap and was unable to pick up the necessary yards (he actually lost yards on the play) giving the Jets the ball on New England's 37 yard line with over a minute left. A few plays later, the Jets would capitalize on a touchdown pass to Braylon Edwards giving the Jets a 14-3 lead that they could take into the break. That touchdown would end up being the difference in a 28-21 game.
