Another One Bites the Dust

Pretty sure I've used this title before, but what're you gonna do? The Duke Blue Devils latest stint as the #1 Men's College Basketball team will be a short one. Playing at Virginia Tech, Duke lost for just the third time all year 64-60. The Hokies overcame 11 missed free throws and a 39.1% shooting to pull off the upset getting double digit points from all 5 starters. Senior Jeff Allen led the way with 18 points and 15 rebounds for the 19-8 Hokies. Duke got 22 from Kyle Singler, but he hit just 6 of 19 shots and only 1 of 7 3-pointers as Duke struggled shooting the ball as well (39.7%).

So with Duke falling, who likely moves up? #4 San Diego State and #5 Texas both lost today, so they're out. #2 Kansas won both their games this week over Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, and #3 Ohio State beat Illinois earlier this week and play host to 12-16 Indiana tomorrow, so it's between the two of them. Kansas had the edge in the polls last week, but Ohio State actually had more first place votes, so you never know. Don't be surprised if the Buckeyes win impressively to see them jump past the #2 Jayhawks. And then if #6 Pitt wins at #16 Louisville tomorrow I think you can expect them at #3. I like #7 BYU at #4 after beating San Diego State for the second time this year today with Duke dropping down to #5. We'll see if I'm close or not. Final prediction:

#1 Ohio State
#2 Kansas
#3 Pitt
#4 BYU
#5 Duke
