Soccer Power Rankings

New set of ESPN's Soccer Power Rankings came out yesterday. Here's the new Top Ten:

#1 Barcelona - 24-1-2 - Spain (1)
#2 Real Madrid - 21-2-4 - Spain (2)
#3 Inter Milan 17-6-5 - Italy (2)
#4 Borussia Dortmund - 19-2-4 - Germany (1)
#5 FC Porto - 20-0-2 - Portugal (1)

#6 Manchester United - 17-3-9 - England (1)
#7 Shakhtar Donetsk 18-1-1 - Ukraine (1)
#8 Arsenal 17-6-5 - England (2)
#9 Spurs 13-6-9 - England (5)
#10 AC Milan 18-3-7 - Italy (1)

Barcelona is still #1 for yet another week. This week they knocked off Arsenal 3-1 in Champions League action to solidy their claim to the top spot and move on to the quarterfinals all in one fell swoop. Real Madrid easily got past Racing Santander 3-1 in La Liga action to hold onto the #2 spot. Inter jumps up to #3 after blowing out Genoa 5-2 in Serie A play. Borussia Dortmund and FC Porto drop a spot despite strangle holds on the top spots in their respective leagues. Dortmund has a 12 point lead over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga while Porto leads Benfica by 11 in the Portuguese Liga.

New to the Top 10 this week are Shakhtar Donetsk who has scored 6 goals in their two matches against AS Roma in moving on to the Champions League Quarterfinals. Tottenham Hotspur is also back in the Top 10 after shutting out AC Milan twice to advance in the Champions League play as well. Napoli drops out as they are winless in their last 3 matches and following an embarrassing 0-0 tie with lowly Brescia. Bayern Munich is also back on the outside looking in having dropped all the way to 5th in the Bundesliga and losing 3 straight matches following their big Champions League match win over Inter Milan.
