The Miami Cool

The Miami Heat lost their 5th straight game tonight to Portland 105-96 at home. They keep finding new ways to do it too. Let's review:

Game 1 - vs New York - Lost 91-86

Blew a 15 point first half lead in this one. Shot just 6 of 22 from long range. Turned the ball over 18 times. Wade hit just 5 of 15 shots and was held to 12 points. Starting Center Erick Dampier finishes with 2 rebounds. Mike Miller comes off the bench and has a plus/minus of -22.

Game 2 - vs Orlando - Lost 99-96

The Heat led this game 73-49 before allowing Orlando to go on a 40-9 run over a 15 minute stretch in the second half. Miami scored 63 points in the first half, just 33 after the break. Orlando hit 16 of 29 3-pointers compared to Miami's 3 of 17. Chris Bosh hit just 5 of 15 shots and finished with 13 points. Dampier had just 3 rebounds in 31 minutes, Dwight Howard had 18 rebounds matched up against him. Mario Chalmers made just 2 of 11 shots. The Miami bench was outscored 34-11.

Game 3 - at San Antonio - Lost 125-95

One night after blowing a 24 point lead, the Heat came out and found themselves down 24 points after ONE QUARTER. San Antonio hit 17 of 28 3-Pointers, and shot 56.1% from the field while putting 8 players in double figures. Dampier had 2 rebounds and was ejected for picking up a Flagrant 2 foul in the second half. The bench scored 26 points, but most of it was after the game was out of reach. San Antonio's bench still outscored them 58-26. Starting Point Guard Mario Chalmers had just 1 assist.

Game 4 - vs Chicago - Lost 87-86

The Heat once again blew a double digit lead, this time 12 points in the first half. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade each missed potential game winners in the final 10 seconds. Miami's bench scored just 6 points and was 2 for 12 from the floor. Dampier had FOUR rebounds, but scored 0 points. 16 more turnovers, 7 by Dwyane Wade. Derrick Rose had 27 points for Chicago.

Game 5 - vs Portland - Lost 105-96

Chris Bosh finishes with 7 points on 3 of 11 shooting and just 4 rebounds in 40 minutes. Bench gets outscored 41-8 and makes 3 of 11 shots. Dampier 13 minutes 2 points 2 rebounds. 69 points combined for Wade and James and they STILL lose.

Hard to figure these guys out right now, but they've already lost the same amount of games this year that LeBron lost ALL OF LAST YEAR IN CLEVELAND. Somewhere Cavaliers fans are smiling. Next up for the Heat are the Lakers on Thursday so it doesn't get any easier.
