All good things must come to an end. Kevin Love's incredible double double streak finally came to a close last night against the Golden State Warriors. 53 games in a row, Love was able to score at least 10 points and grab at least 10 rebounds, but Golden State was able to hold him to just six points in their 100-77 victory. It marked the first time since November 19th that Love wasn't able to record a double double in a game. It was somewhat surprising that Golden State would be the team to stop Love considering the game he had against them on February 27th. In that meeting Love finished with 37 points and 23 rebounds while leading Minnesota to a 126-123 victory. Love also had a 21 point 22 rebound effort against the Warriors in November and a 13 point 14 rebound effort against them a month later. But David Lee caused Love problems on the offensive end all night holding him to just 1 of 6 shooting in 33 minutes.
During the 53 game streak Love average 21.8 points and 16.3 rebounds, but was only able to lead the Wolves to victories 13 times in those 53 games. Still, it marked the longest streak in the NBA since the NBA/ABA merger, and the longest overall since Elvin Hayes recorded 55 straight double doubles in 1973-1974. Love looks to begin a new streak on Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz.
