1000 Wins for Karl

With the Denver Nuggets 123-116 win over the Toronto Raptors tonight, George Karl became the 7th coach in NBA history to notch his 1000th win. Currently in his 23rd year as a head coach, Karl is currently in riding a streak of of 3 straight 50-win seasons with the Nuggets. His best season as a coach was during the 1995-1996 campaign when he led the Seattle Supersonics to a 64-18 regular season record and made it all the way to the NBA Finals before falling to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Karl currently trails 3 active coaches, Jerry Sloan (Utah - 1207 Wins), Phil Jackson (Lakers - 1114 Wins) and Larry Brown (Charlotte - 1097 Wins). Don Nelson is the NBA's all time leader in wins with 1335. Lenny Wilkins (1332) and Pat Riley (1210) round out the top 7. Pretty good company for Karl to be in.
