Bad Luck for the Black Knights

The story of this game changed on one play at the end of the second quarter. The Black Knights had already cut into a 17-0 deficit and now trailed by just 10 at 17-7. After forcing their 3rd turnover of the half, they now had the ball 1st and Goal from the Navy 3 yard line with just a little over a minute to go in the half. Army Quarterback Trent Steelman took the ball on the keeper but was stripped by linebacker Jerry Hauburger and the fumble wound up in the arms of Safety Wyatt Middleton with nobody between him and the endzone. 98 yards later it’s 24-7. An unbelievable turn of events. At worst, Army was looking at a field goal and going into the half down 7 AND still getting the ball to start the second half. Instead, Navy gets the break and goes up 17 as they look to be well on their way to their 9th straight victory in this 111th meeting between the two service academies.
