This headline caught me a little off guard today: Nationals resign Chien-Ming Wang. What? RE-sign? I hadn't heard this guy's name since he got shut down for shoulder surgery in the summer of 2009, but lo and behold, he was apparently a National last year. Granted he didn't pitch all season, but as he's shown in the past, when healthy, he can be very effective. Prior to getting hurt (while running the bases of all things) in 2008, Wang was in the midst of a 3-year run where he was 46-15 with the New York Yankees. Wang won 19 games in 2006 and 2007 and while only appearing in only 27 games over the past 3 years, it's easy to forget that he's only 30 years old. If he returns healthy from shoulder surgery, this could actually be a good signing for Washington. I don't think it's going to be enough to unseat the Phillies as the NL East favorites, but every little bit helps.
