K-Rod to the Brewers

Currently tied atop the NL Central with the St. Louis Cardinals, the Brewers made the first big trade of the regular season acquiring closer Francisco Rodriguez from the New York Mets for a couple players to be named later. Rodriguez has 23 saves for the Mets this season and 291 in his 10 year career with the Angels and Mets. It remains to be seen how Rodriguez will fit into the mix as they already have LaTroy Hawkins (11 Holds and a 1.08 ERA in 27 games) and John Axford (23 saves in 25 opportunities and a 2.83 ERA) in the mix. Needless to say it's a good problem for the Brewers to have. With Rickie Weeks, Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder, offense has never been an issue and now with this trio backing up Shaun Marcum, Yovani Gallardo, Randy Wolf and Zack Greinke, the pitching staff is starting to look pretty formidable. We'll see if the Brewers are done wheeling and dealing and what the Cardinals do in response. And don't forget those pesky Pittsburgh Pirates, just 1 game back.
