NHL Playoff Update

Saturday Games

Detroit 4 Phoenix 3 - Detroit leads series 2-0

Goals:

DET- Pavel Datsuyk (2), Brian Rafalski (2), Darren Helm (1), Tomas Holmstrom (1)
PHO- Radim Vrbata (1), Shane Doan 2 (2)

Notes:

Pavel Datsuyk was involved in all four Red Wing goals with a goal and three assists. His goal was in 30th playoff goal in 112 games...  Henrick Zetterberg missed his second straight playoff game with a knee injury... Detroit led 4-0 early in the second period before Phoenix rallied to make it close with 3 power play goals... Shane Doan has never had a postseason where he scored more than 2 goals. This is the 8th time he's been in the playoffs with the Coyotes.



Philadelphia 5 Buffalo 4 - Series tied 1-1.

Goals:

BUF- Thomas Vanek 2 (2), Andrej Sekera (1), Cody McCormick (1)
PHI - Claude Giroux (1), Daniel Carcillo (1), James van Riemsdyk (1), Ville Leino (1), Danny Briere (1)

Notes:

Philadelphia benched starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky after he let in 3 goals in the first 12:30. His replacement, Brian Boucher stopped 20 of 21 shots to get the win... Thomas Vanek led the Sabres in goals and assists during the regular season with 32 and 41 respectively... Jeff Carter who led the Flyers in goals during the regular season was 36 does not have a point through the first two games.


 

Montreal 3 Boston 1 - Montreal leads series 2-0

Goals:

MON- Mike Cammalleri (1), Mathieu Darche (1), Yannick Weber (1)
BOS-Patrice Bergeron (1)

Notes:

Montreal has now won 6 of 8 meetings between the two teams and have held the Bruins to just 1 goal in the first 120 minutes of this series... Cammalleri scored 13 goals in last year's playoffs... Bergeron did not score against Montreal in their 4 game sweep of the Canadiens during the 2009 playoffs... Zdeno Chara did not play for Boston as he deals with complications from dehydration.



Los Angeles 4 San Jose 0 - Series tied 1-1.

Goals:

SAN-
LOS- Jack Johnson (1), Drew Doughty 2 (2), Kyle Clifford (1)

Notes:

Drew Doughty had scored two goals in a game just once in his career, on February 2nd against the Oilers, before tonight. Doughty now has 5 postseason goals in 8 games... Jonathan Quick picked up his first postseason shutout in his 8th playoff game... San Jose was shutout for the first time since January 9th against the Ducks.
