New England stayed unbeaten, but barely, needing a 93rd minute goal from Ilija Stolica to equalize against the expansion Vancouver Whitecaps. Vancouver went a man down in the 45th minute when Gershon Koffie was sent off for an elbow to the head of Pat Phelan. But it was Vancouver who'd strike first when Zak Boggs took down Camilo in the box forcing a PK. Eric Hassli, who came on as a sub in the second half, easily converted past goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth, but promptly took his jersey off in celebration (he had another jersey on underneath) and received a yellow card. Only problem was he'd received a yellow just 7 minutes earlier for an elbow so now Vancouver was TWO men down. This wouldn't last long though as in the 74th minute, New England's A.J. Soares was sent off for a tackle on Atiba Harris. So with just 19 men on the pitch, New England was able to finally score the equalizer when Pat Phelan's cross into the box was headed down beautifully by Zack Schilawski and settled and finished by Stolica. Stolica almost tied the game a few minutes earlier, but his goal was ruled offsides. Vancouver took on Houston today and hosts Chivas USA next Saturday. New England played Salt Lake yesterday and takes on the Dynamo in Houston next Sunday.

DALLAS 3 COLORADO 0
The Rapids came into their MLS Cup rematch with FC Dallas having won all 3 of their matches this season. That streak came to an abrupt end in Dallas on Friday night as Dallas throttled the defending champs 3-0. Dallas, who had not led in any of their matches this season prior to this one, got on the board in the 26th minute when Hugo Ihemelu drove home a half volley from close range following a skirmish after a corner. Marvin Chavez got the assist, but paid the price catching an elbow to the eye on the play and had to be replaced. Dallas added to their lead in the 40th minute when Fabian Castillo played a through ball from David Ferreira who finessed the ball past Matt Pickens for his first goal of the year to make it 2-0. The reigning MVP would add a 2nd goal when Daniel Hernandez played a through ball to Eric Avila who rifled a cross into the box for Ferreira who knocked it in to put Dallas up 3. Colorado did very little to threaten Kevin Hartman who didn't have to make a save all night as the Dallas won in convincing fashion, finally getting their first win of 2011. Dallas will now head west to take on Portland next Sunday while the defending champs will look to regroup and play arguably the hottest team in MLS right now on the road in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night.

Seattle 2 Chicago 1
Speaking of teams trying to get their first win, Seattle joined Dallas by defeating the Fire 2-1 despite being without star Fredy Montero. O'Brian White got Seattle on the board early converting a brilliant header from beyond the penalty spot on a cross from Mauro Rosales for his second goal of the year. Chicago didn't take long to equalize though when Diego Chaves tied the game just a minute later on his 3rd goal of the year. That would be all Kasey Keller would allow though and Seattle retook the lead on Steve Zakuani's second goal of the season in the 25th minute. Keller would come up big twice in the second half stoning Diego Chaves from close range and denying Gustavo Puerari on a breakaway. Seattle will travel to Philadelphia for a tough road game with the surprising Union on Saturday while Chicago travels to Portland where they will look to keep the Timbers from getting their first win on Thursday night.

Philadelphia 1 New York 0
New York remains winless following the acquisition of Dwayne De Rosario as the Philadelphia Union got back to their winning ways behind another shutout from Faryd Mondragon, his 3rd already this year. The Red Bulls outshot the Union 12-6, with Juan Agudelo hitting both the left post and the crossbar in the first half, but it was the Union who caught the game's only break. Less than a minute after coming on for Carlos Ruiz, 19 year old sub Roger Torres capitalized on a miscue by Tim Ream. Ream's clearance went right to the feet of Danny Mwanga setting up a 2 on 1. Mwanga fed the wide open Torres whose first touch strike went past Bouna Coundoul for his first MLS goal. The Union are the only team in the Eastern Conference with more than one win and they'll look to extend their lead atop the conference on Saturday against Seattle while New York will try to get back to their winning ways at home against San Jose.

REAL SALT LAKE 2 NEW ENGLAND 0
The Revs were dealt their first loss of the season, losing to red hot Real Salt Lake 2-0 on Saturday. Moments after Ned Grabavoy's shot hit the post, Chris Schuler headed home a corner from Collen Warner to give Real a 1-0 lead. Real would add a second goal early in the second half with Warner again the catalyst. This time he found a streaking Paulo Jr. who easily beat Bobby Shuttleworth for his second goal of the season. Then things started getting chippy. Other the final 40 minutes, 9 cards were issued and 3 players were sent off, the second straight game the Revs have been involved in that saw three red cards issued. This time it was Shalrie Joseph and Pat Phelan for New England and Will Johnson for Salt Lake. All three will be out next week when New England takes on Houston and Salt Lake hosts defending champion Colorado.

LOS ANGELES 1 DC UNITED 1
The Galaxy didn't have Landon Donovan for their trip to DC, but his replacement Mike Magee headed home a David Beckham corner in the 12th minute to give LA an early 1-0 lead. Beckham's assist was his 3rd of the season. It looked like Magee's goal would be enough, but Charlie Davies was taken down by Omar Gonzalez in the box in the 90th minute. Davies converted the penalty for his league leading 4th goal of the season to force the draw. Two more red cards in this match as Santino Quaranta was sent off in the 84th minute after his second yellow card and Jovan Kirovski was ejected in stoppage time. LA is back at it again on Wednesday night when they travel across the border to take on Toronto and DC will follow them there taking on Toronto FC on Saturday night.

SAN JOSE 1 TORONTO 1
Alan Gordon scored for the second match in a row for Toronto getting them an early 1-0 lead on the road in San Jose, but the Earthquakes would battle back. Simon Dawkins and Chris Wondolowski worked a nifty 1-2 and Dawkins also scored for the second straight match bringing the score even at 1. That would be all the scoring in this one. San Jose outshot Toronto 16-10, but Stefan Frei had four saves including a big one on Wondo in the 51st minute from about 13 yards out. The reigning Golden Boot winner gathered up his own rebound, but his follow-up attempt was blocked by Ty Harden. So both sides were forced to settle for 1 point as each side extended their unbeaten streak to 3 games. Toronto's streak will be in immediate jeopardy as they host L.A. on Wednesday while San Jose travels to New York for a showdown with the Red Bulls on Saturday.

Chivas USA picked up a point in their second straight match as they played Columbus to a 0-0 draw. Columbus has not allowed a goal in their last 3 matches as Will Hesmer posted his 3rd consecutive shutout tallying a pair of saves. Dan Kennedy had a pair of saves for Chivas USA including a big one on Eddie Gaven in the 74th minute when he just tipped Gaven's attempt wide of the mark. Both sides are in action again on Saturday with Chivas traveling to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps and Columbus playing host to Kansas City.

HOUSTON 3 VANCOUVER 1
The Dynamo finally got their first win of 2011 and in convincing fashion as they defeated the expansion Whitecaps 3-1. Danny Cruz had a couple early opportunities, hitting the crossbar once and missing wide on another before Cam Weaver converted a corner kick to put Houston ahead 1-0. Vancouver came right back when their young Brazilian Camilo scored his third goal of the year set up by a nice feed from Davide Chiumiento less than a minute later. Houston would go back in front before the intermission when Cruz's cross into the box was flicked in by Bobby Boswell for his first goal of the year. Will Bruin almost put the Dynamo up two in the 70th minute, but Jay Nolly stuffed him. He would not be denied twice though when he beat Nolly to a 50/50 ball and easily finished the empty netter for his first goal of the season. Wade Davis had the assist on Bruin's goal, his third of the game. Houston ended up outshooting the Whitecaps 20-5 and will host New England on Sunday as they look to build a winning streak. Vancouver hosts Chivas USA on Saturday.
