NHL Eastern Conference Finals - Game 5

BOSTON 3 TAMPA BAY 1 - Boston leads series 3-2.

Goals:

TAM- Simon Gagne (5)
BOS- Nathan Horton (7), Brad Marchand (6), Rich Peverley (2)

Notes:

Mike Smith started in goal for Tampa Bay as Dwayne Roloson was benched by the Lightning for Game 5. Smith saved 17 of 19 shots in a losing effort. It was his first career playoff start... Tim Thomas got his 21st career playoff win by saving 33 shots for the Bruins... 2nd year winger Brad Marchand has 6 goals and 6 assists in this his first postseason. Marchand had 21 goals and 20 assists for the B's in his first full NHL season... This was the first time this series that Simon Gagne scored a goal and the Lightning didn't win. Gagne scored in both Game 1 and Game 4, Tampa Bay's two wins... Rich Peverley, who joined the Bruins in the middle of the season, had only played in one postseason series before this year and did not score... Patrice Bergeron picked up his 11th assist of the postseason tying him for 6th in points with 15... The series goes back to Tampa Bay for Game 6 tomorrow night.
