U.S. Women Beat Japan Again

The U.S. women knocked off 4th ranked Japan for the second time in 5 days by a score of 2-0. The United States used the same lineup it used on Saturday against the Japanese with the same results. Amy Rodriguez opened the scoring with her 4th goal of the year converting a pass from Heather O'Reilly in the 28th minute and O'Reilly put the game away in the 69th minute with her 29th career goal as the U.S. won for the 8th time in 10 tries this year. Carli Lloyd, the leading scorer for the U.S. in 2011 had the assist on O'Reilly's goal giving her 12 points through the U.S.'s opening ten matches. Hope Solo made 3 saves in recording her second consecutive shutout and 52nd of her career to earn the win for the United States. The U.S. has one more tuneup match before heading to Germany when they take on Mexico on June 5th at Red Bull Arena. The U.S. opens up World Cup play on the 28th of June against Korea.
