Fantasy Football Week in Review - Week 5

The box score shows a comfortable 36 point win, but it was really anything but that. Midweek acquisitions Kevin Boss, Roman Harper, Earnest Graham and the Chiefs Defense combined for 4 points while incumbents Percy Harvin and Johnny Knox managed to combine for just 3 more. If not for monster games from Victor Cruz, Jahvid Best and Chargers kicker Nick Novak, this week could have been a disaster. Fortunately, my opponent struggled even more than I did and we were able to get back into the win column for the first time since Week 2. With the Chargers bye week coming up and newly acquired Curtis Painter set to step in at quarterback for Rivers, we desperately needed this win. We're currently sitting in 6th place, but with 12 of the 14 teams in the Drydock League having at least two wins, we're far from a lock for the postseason.

Here's a look at who the top performers were at each position in Week 5:

QB - Ben Roethlisberger sure didn't look banged up on Sunday as he played through an ankle injury and threw 5 touchdown passes against Tennessee in a 38-17 win. He had just 3 touchdown passes the first four weeks of the season. Fantasy Points: 32

WR - Dwayne Bowe helped the Chiefs rally from a 24-7 deficit to beat Indianapolis 28-24 as he set season highs in catches (7) and receiving yards (128) and caught a pair of touchdown passes. Fantasy Points: 28

RB - Adrian Peterson ran for 122 yards and 3 first quarter touchdowns as the Vikings finally got their first win of the season beating Arizona 34-10. Fantasy Points: 27

TE - Joel Dreessen had just 3 catches over the first four weeks of the season, but with the injury to Andre Johnson, he was more involved in the Texans passing game and produced his best game of the season hauling in 5 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy Points: 21
